Raid to intercept Britain - Scandinavia trade together with battleship Gneisenau , CL Köln and destroyers Friedrich Ihn , Diether von Roeder ,  Karl Galster , Max Schulz ,  Paul Jakobi ,  Bernd von Arnim ,  Erich Steinbrinck and Friedrich Eckoldt . No results.

17-18.10.1939:   Mine laying operations together with the destroyers Karl Galster , Friedrich Eckold , Diether von Roeder , Hans Lüdemann and Hermann Künne against the Humber estuary.
12-13.11.1939:   Mine laying operations together with the destroyers Karl GalsterHans Lüdemann and Hermann Künne against the Themse estuary. The returning ships are escorted by the light cruisers Nürnberg and Köln and the torpedo boats Iltis ,  Leopard ,  Seeadler and Wolf .
17-18.11.1939:   Mine laying operations together with the destroyers Bernd von Arnim and Hermann Künne against the Themse estuary. The returning ships are escorted by the light cruisers Nürnberg and Köln and the torpedo boats Iltis ,  Leopard , and Seeadler .
10-11.01.1940:   Mine laying operations together with the destroyers Anton Schmitt , Karl Galster , Richard Beitzen , Friedrich Ihn and Friedrich Eckold against Newcastle.
09-10.02.1940:   Together with the destroyers Theodor Riedel and Hermann Schoemann , the Wilhlem Heidkamp supports mine laying operations of the destroyers Friedrich Eckold , Richard Beitzen , Max Schultz , Bruno Heinemann , Wilhlem Zenker and Erich Koellner .
18-20.02.1940:   Wilhlem Heidkamp and Karl Galster escort  the battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau and the heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper during an operation against the Shetland narrow.
07.04.1940:   Operation Weserübung: Wilhlem Heidkamp joins the destroyers Georg Thiele , Wolfgang Zenker , Anton Schmitt , Erich Giese , Bernd von Arnim  , Diether von Roeder , Erich Koellner , Hermann Künne and Hans Lüdemann in the Narvik Attack Group.
09.04.1940:   Operation Weserübung. Together with Bernd von Arnim the Wilhlem Heidkamp sinks the Norwegian coast defence ships Norge and Eidsvold with torpedo hits at Narvik.
13.04.1940:   Operation Weserübung: The destroyer is sunk by British destroyers at Narvik by artillery and torpedo hits.
