Torpedoboot T16 was part of the 3rd TFlottila after commisioned. Transferred to Rotterdam in January 1942 to participate in Operation Cerberus. On 19.03.1942, T16 escorted the CA Admiral Hipper to Norway. After returned to Germany the torpedo boat was used in the torpedo school in the Baltic Sea, where it was damaged by a mine hit on 21.02.1943. In October  1944 it was put into active service again and was badly damaged by American air attacks while escorting a convoy on 10.04.1945. Caused by the heavy damage, it was decommissioned on 13.04.1945.
