Artillerieschulschiff 1931 - 1941

14.07.1931:   Bremse is commissioned, attached to the artillery training school in Kiel.
1933:   Repairs and refits, the ships mast is reduced in size and the artillery director is removed.
1939:   Bremse plays the British cruiser Amphion in the movie "Der letzte Apell", and is equipped with two
dummy funnels.
03-04.09.1939:   Escorts the minelayers Tannenberg and Hansestadt Danzig .
- Oct 1939:   Escort for troop transports.
Oct 1939 - Mar 1940:   Used in the artillery school.
Apr 1940:   Operation "Weserübung":  
Bremse is part of Gruppe 3 attacking Bergen, during this operation the ship is hit by 21 cm guns.
-05.08.1940:   Repairs in Stavanger.
01.11.1940:   Rammed by the steamer Donau .
24.06.1941:   Sent to Kiel for escort duty.
30.07.1941:   Bremse is attacked by 20 Albacore torpedo bombers and 9 Fulmar fighters of the H.M.S. Victorious but
escapes unharmed.
06.09.1941:   While escorting the transports Trautenfels and Barcelona , the convoy is attacked by the British cruisers
Nigeria and Aurora near the Mageröy-Fjord. The Bremse was able to pull the cruisers away from the
transports, so that they could escape while the Bremse was sunk in  an night artillery duel, 160 crew
members died.
