Uncle Sam Week 6 Pic 1

After the turbine casings were added to the hull, the model begins to look like a paddle wheel ship. The consturction step was without any problem, the casings were sanded and only some very few putty was required.

Next were the inner sides of the turbine cover. The most difficult thing was to cut the parts out of the plywood sheets. During those construction steps, some additional fine tuning was done at the hull - sanding and putty...

Uncle Sam Week 6 Pic 3 The rod casing sides were added, no problems here - well except the fact that they seem to be too long in their afterwads parts. The must be shortend later, but this can only be done when some additional construction of the turbine covers is completed.
Uncle Sam Week 6 Pic 4 After the outer sides of the turbine cover were added, the lids were glued to the sides. Here, it still looks a bit "rough", but this will be changed after some sanding.

The turbine covers are cut and sanded now - this definitly looks like a paddle wheel ship :)

The outer part of the turbine cover will later be covered with some wooden planks, so the gaps still visible must not be closed with putty.

It can also be seen that the timber heads are glued to the inner parts of the bulwarks. They still need to be cut to the correct length.

A complete view with all timber heads.

Uncle Sam Week 6 Pic 7 With the use of a little drilling machine and some manual sanding all timber heads are now shortend to the correct lenght. For the next steps, the construction order has to be altered a bit, because the rod casing sides must be shortend a bit before the gungales are added to the bulwarks.
