01.12.1898:   Iltis is commissioned.
- Jan 1899:   Tests and trials.
06.02.1899:   Sent to East-Asia via the Mediterranian.
27.04.1899:   Stop in Singapore.
18.05.1899:   Arrival in Tsingtau.
01.06.1899:   Trip to Promontory lighthouse in memorial to the crew of the sunken predescessor Iltis . After this, the ship visits several Russian ports.
31.05.1900:  

Send to the Taku roads because of the Boxer upspring.

04.06.1900:   30 crew members and 2 officers are send to land to protect European citizens.
06.08.1900:   End of operations at Taku.
17.08.1900:   Arrived in Shanghai for repairs.
29.10.1900-15.04.1901:   Send to Hankau.
06.03.1904:   Participation in the opening ceremony of the "New Harbor" in Tsingtau.
1908:   Geographical survey at the Kaitschou-Beight.
Oct 1911 - Mar 1912:   Protection of German citizens in Hankau during the Chinese Revolution.
15.06.1914:   Arrival in Tsingtau for repairs.
28.09.1914:   Before the surrender of Tsingtau, Iltis is town into the inner harbor, blown up and scuttled.
