History
The two incomplete Torpedo boats of a improved Sleipner class were captured by the German Army in the Shipyard of Horten in April 1940. Although still in an early stage of construction, it was considered to complete both ships, under the designated names ZN4
and ZN5
("Zerstörer Norwegen 4 & 5"). In 1941 they were reclassified to Torpedoboats and renamed to TA7
and TA8
.
ZN4
(TA7
) was launched in 1941 but construction only proceeded very slowly, on 27.04.1944 the ships sunk through sabotage by a bomb detonating in the turbine section. The wreck was scrapped in 1945.
