History

The two incomplete Torpedo boats of a improved Sleipner class were captured by the German Army in the Shipyard of Horten in April 1940. Although still in an early stage of construction, it was considered to complete both ships, under the designated names ZN4 and ZN5 ("Zerstörer Norwegen 4 & 5"). In 1941 they were reclassified to Torpedoboats and renamed to TA7 and TA8 .

ZN5 (TA8) was launched in June 1943 and after the destruction of ZN4 (TA7 ), it was considered to transfer the incomplete ship to
Germany. This was never done and the ship was scrapped after the war.
