10.09.1911:   Shipyard trials.
30.09.1911:   Moltke is commissioned.

11.05.1912:   Together with the small cruiser Stettin , the Moltke leaves Kiel for a visit to the USA.
03.06.1912:   Arrival at Hampton Roads.
08-13.06. 1912:   Visit to New York.
24.06.1912:   Moltke returns to Kiel.
04-06.07.1912:   Escort ot the Imperial Yacht Hohenzollern to Baltischport.
09.07.1912:   Moltke becomes flagship of the 1st Reconnaissance Group.
-Aug 1914:   Fleet services and exercises..
Aug 1914:   Part of the 1st Reconnaissance Group (1. Aufklärungsgeschwader) at the outbreak of the war.
28.08.1914:   Unsuccessful search for British battlecruisers in the German Beight.
03.11.1914:   Operation J1: Coastal bombardment of Yarmouth.
16.12.1914:   Operation J2: Coastal bombardment of Hartlepool.
24.01.1915:   Battle at the Doggerbank against British battlecruisers.
19.08.1915:   Operations near Riga: Hit by torpedo of British submarine E1 28-30 miles west off Irben Strait. Moltke sent to Hamburg for repairs with 450ts water in the ship.
05-06.03.1916:   Operations at the Hoofoten.
24.04.1916:   Coastal bombardment of Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
31.05.1916:   Battle of Jutland: Moltke was hit four times.
-29.07.1916:   Repairs at Blohm & Voß in Hamburg.
19.08.1916:   Unsuccessful raid in the North Sea.
17-20.10.1916:   Unsuccessful raid in the North Sea.
05.11.1916:   Unsuccessful raid in the North Sea.
Sep 1917:   Operations off the Baltic Islands.
17.11.1917:   Unsuccessful raid in the Western North Sea.
23.04.1918:   Unsuccessful raid in the Northern North Sea, heavily damaged near Stavanger.
25.04.1918:   While being towed by BB Oldenburg , Moltke is hit by a torpedo fired by the British submarine E42 , floddings cause 2100 ts water in the ship.
24.11.1918:   Interned at Scapa Flow.
21.06.1919:   Scuttled by own crew.
1927:   Wreck raised.
-1929:   Broken down at Rosyth.
