01.09.1939:   Together with the cruisers Köln , Leipzig , Nürnberg and other destroyers operations in the Danzig Beight.
10-11.01.1940:   Mine laying operations together with the destroyers Richard Heinemann and Erich Koellner against Cromer.
09-10.02.1940:   Mine laying operations together with the destroyers Bruno Heinemann and Erich Koellner against the Haisborough lightship. The mine laying destroyers are supported by Wilhlem Heidkamp , Theodor Riedel and Hermann Schoemann .
07.04.1940:   Operation Weserübung:  Wolfgang Zenker joins the destroyers Georg Thiele , Anton Schmitt , Bernd von Arnim , Erich Giese , Erich Koellner , Diether von Roeder , Hans Lüdemann , Hermann Künne and Wilhlem Heidkamp in the Narvik Attack Group.
13.04.1940:   Operation Weserübung: After running out of fuel and ammunition, the destroyer is scuttled in the Rombarksbotten.
