History

The Seebäderschiff Herta was first used as auxiliary hospital ship Hilfslazarettschiff E . From September 1914 on, it was used as
mine layer, mainly operating in the Baltic Sea. Until 1917, it was used for various mine laying operations there. In 1919 it was again used as a civilian Seebäderschiff. During World War II, it was used as a floating barrack for the 25th U-Boat flotilla and taken over by Greece after the war as Heimara . On 19.01.1947 it was hit by a mine left over from World War 2 and sunk off Piraeus.
