History

The former passenger ship Oswiga (ex St. Johann ) was converted into a mine layer in April 1916 and commissioned as mine layer Wotan in August 1917. After only 10 months in service it was given back to its former owner. In 1919 it was taken over by Britain and until it was scrapped in 1967, it was owned by Lettland and the Soviet Union.
