History

The new Seebäderschiff Königin Louise  was assigned as an mine layer in August 1914. Since the ship was needed for immediate
actions, the installation of two 8,8 cm guns was cancelled. While being on a mine laying operation on 05.08.1914, the ship was
detected by the British cruiser Amphion and 16 escorting destroyers and sunk at noon time at the Themse estuary at 51°52'N/02°30'E.

On  the way back to its base, the Amphion run into the mine field just laid by the Königin Louise and sunk after several mine hits.
