1906:   After training and trials the ship is attached to the reconnaissance forces.
1911:   Decommissioned.
02.08.1914:   At the outbreak of the war, the armored cruiser is attached to the 3rd Reconnaissance Squadron.
26-27.08.1914:   Operations in the Eastern Baltic Sea to assist the grounded CL Magdeburg .
-Spring 1915:   Used to protect the Baltic Sea entrance.
Summer 1915:   Roon took part in several Operations in the Baltic Sea: The attack on Libau, several mine operations and the invasion of the baltic islands.
04.12.1916:   Put out of active service due to of bad material conditions. The ship is used as a torpedo test ship and training ship for cadets.
1918:   Conversion into seaplane carrier is stopped at the end of the war.
25.11.1920:   Stricken from fleet lists.
1921:   Broken down in Kiel.
