History
The French passenger ship Cyrnos
was used as the guard ship P2
by the French navy. Captured in Marseilles on 07.01.1943, it was rebuild as a escort vessel and assigned to the 3rd escort flotilla on 01.05.1943. Only two months later, on 11.07.1943 then now named SG13
lost its bow after a air launched torpedo hit near Naples and the ship was beached near La Ponta the next day. Recovered in August 1943, the ship was refitted as a mine layer and renamed to M6063
. In August 1944 it was sunk in Marseilles, but raised after the war. Repaired in 1948 it got its original name back and was in active service until 1966 when it was scrapped.
