14.10.1904   Braunschweig is commissioned.
- December 1904   Trials and training. After that, the ship is attached to the 2nd Squadron and used as flagship.

Summer 1908   Atlantic voyage, including a visit to Las Palmas.
Summer 1909   Atlantic voyage, including a visit to La Coruna.
Summer 1910   Visit to Norway.
Summer 1911   Visit to Norway.
30.07.1913   Decommissioned.
02.08.1914   After the outbreak of the war, the Braunschweig is recommissioned and attached to the 4th Squadron.
09.09.1914   Operations in the eastern Baltic Sea.
-July 1915   Used for coastal defenses in the North Sea.
-August 1915   Operations in the eastern Baltic Sea.
- October 1915   Used for coastal defenses in the North Sea.
