16.11.1909:   Westfalen is commissioned.
-03.05.1910:   Training and trials. After that the ship is attached to the 1st Squadron.
05.05.1910-29.04.1912:   Flagship of the 1st Squadron.
1914:   Part of the 1rd Battleship Squadron at the outbreak of the war.
05-06.03.1916:   Operations at the Hoofoten.
24.04.1916:   Covers battlecruiser coastal bombardment of Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
31.05.1916:   Battle of Jutland: Westfalen is hit once.
-17.07.1916:   Repairs.
18-19.08.1916:   Unsuccessful North Sea Raid. Torpedoed by British submarine E23 .
-04.10.1916:   Repairs.
18-20.10.1916:   Unsuccessful North Sea Raid.
Spring 1918:   Westfalen takes part in operations to free Finland.
01.09.1918:   Used as artillery training ship.
05.11.1919:   Decommissioned.
05.08.1920:   Taken over by Britain as ship D .
1924:   Scrapped at Birkenhead.
