Linienschiff 1902 - 1921  Wittelsbach  Class

July 1900   While being still under construction, the ship is rammed by the Linienschiff Baden , causing some substantial damage.
15.10.1902   Wittelsbach is commissioned.
- December 1902   Training and trials.
13.12.1902   In dense fog, the Wittelsbach runs aground near Kiel. It took 7 days until the ship was freed again and towed into a shipyard in Kiel.
- 20.09.1910   Used for fleet service.
20.09.1910   Decommissioned, used as fleet reserve.
16.10.1911   Recommissioned.
30.03-21.04.1913   Fleet exercises.
05-31.07.1913   Wittelsbach transports a statue to Norway which was presented as a gift ot the Norwegian people. It is still existing near Vangnaes today.
30.03-29.04.1914   Attached to the training squadron.
August 1914   With the outbreak of World War I, the Wittelsbach is assigned to the 4th Squadron stationed in the Baltic Sea.
26-31.08.1914   Operations in the Baltic Sea to assist the beached cruiser Magdeburg .
11-20.09.1914   Sent to the North Sea.
22-26.09.1914   Operations in the Baltic Sea.
04.12.1914 - 02.04.1915   Patrol duty in the North Sea.
03.04.1915   Repairs in Wilhelmshaven.
May 1915   Several operations in the Baltic Sea to assist the German Army. The Wittelsbach is equipped with a third false funnel to make the ship look like the stronger Braunschweig class.
27.05-04.07.1915   Patrol duty in the North Sea.
07.07.1915   Transferred to Danzig.
11.07.1915   Wittelsbach runs aground, but comes free again under its own power without any damage.
July 1915   Several operations in the Baltic Sea.
09-11.09.1915   Operations near Gotland.
11.11.1915   Sent back to Kiel.
24.08.1916   Wittelsbach is decommissioned.
September 1918   A plan to modify the ship to a target ship is cancelled.
01.06.1919   After reconstruction, the Wittelsbach is recommissioned as mother ship for small mine hunters.
20.07.1920   Decommissioned.
07.07.1921   Sold and scrapped.
